Rescuing Roses

Back in April I sought advice from Forum members after having over-sprayed a pair of Roses against aphid infestation.
I was suitably told off by some members and acknowledge this was stupid thing to do.
My question now is can I rescue the Rose in any way or should I simply leave well alone and hope it recovers next year?
I've attached some pics to show the damage.  I have also included a photo of my Ferdinand Picard just to prove I can get it right some times - what a glorious show I hope you'll agree?

Any guidance very gratefully received.

Hi Guys - you would be better off fortifying the soil and watering it first. The soil looks dry and if i'm honest a bit lifeless. Put on a good 3-4 inches of composted manure around it and water this on a regular basis. It should then start to produce new leaves. Cut off all the dead leaves and stems.
  • Dear "Batwood".
Thanks for getting back to me - my first on this new discussion.
Very much appreciated and will certainly give this a go.
Hopefully, I can get a delivery from the local garden centre as we no longer have a car.
    Thanks again.

Check the soil is moist BEFORE you mulch or the mulch will keep the water out. I hope your roses recover!

Try not to worry too much roses are tough! I have pruned really hard before at the “wrong” time of the year. I would cut off all the damaged bits water well, mulch and hope for the best. Good luck!

Delivery from a GC might come expensive. Could you ask a friend to pick up a couple of bags of composted manure for you?  Your 'Ferdinand Pichard' looks stunning.
