Hello bdhill and welcome to the forum.
Here is a short list of some shrubs that would like the conditions you describe:
Various dogwoods (lots to choose from); spotted laurels and viburnums.

If the wet soil is more damp, then Hypericums, Weigelas, Hydrangeas and Berberis Thunbergii will all do fine in those conditions.

I'll add these to the list  :)

    and a good berberis maybe:

Also depends on what colours you like, what you have growing nearby, what your soil is like and how much space you have there.

Consider some large ferns too perhaps. My dryoptera easily reaches 1.2m or so.

If your soil is moist but free draining and you have the space, a New Zealand tree fern is spectacular.

If you have very wet shade but not free draining, then you may want to consider improving the soil with grit and well rotted manure, by digging it over, if that's an option, as not much will like boggy ground.
