Greyhound at the Chatsworth show?

Dogs are allowed at Chatsworth but I'm in two minds about taking my big greyhound. He'd be no trouble, and would probably enjoy it (he loves people), but do you think it would be too much of a crush with the numbers of people milling around?

I will be honest, l love dogs, but l would leave him at home. These shows are very crowded, what with the people, people in wheelchairs, and those confounded plant trolleys. I think even the most laid back dog would find it stressful and he could be at risk of having his paws trodden on or accidentally knocked.

I don't think dogs ever look very happy at those sort of occasions.

I once went to an agricultural show with a friend who brought her two Jack Russells along.  The dogs weren't allowed into some of the marquees so we had to take turns to wait outside with the dogs, which was a lot less fun for us than going round together.  We made the mistake of taking them into the foxhound exhibit; the hounds set up such a baying at the sight of our two little guys, the poor things were terrified.

If you took your dog and it was clearly unhappy, you'd face the choice of leaving before you'd seen all you wanted, or leaving the dog in the car, and we all know what that can lead to.

Plant fairs and garden shows are not the best place for dogs.  Even if he is well behaved, other dogs and people may not be and I think he will be stressed and you won't be able to enjoy the show or easily carry any purchases.

I would not take him. The first year I went to Chatsworth show, there were dogs getting trod on, they didn't look happy. It's not as if you can let them off for a good run because of sheep and deer in the vicinity.  Other times of year, Chatsworth is a lovely place for a dog on a lead.

Cool, makes sense. The marquees are something I was concerned about, since they tend to be rammed with slow walkers (like a George A Ramero movie).

Also this means we don't have to go in my car, which means I don't have to clean it, so there's that!

Every cloud and all that @WillDB 😁
Maybe you could bring him back a present.

Probably saw 30 dogs there today, some sizeable beasts. They seemed content enough.

Yeah he would have been fine except maybe the floral marquee. I'll know for next time!
