To prune or not to prune.... that is literally my question! Lavender!

It's not the time of year to prune lavenders, too late. You trim them after flowering, they may re-flower. Many people prune them in late August. You can cut them down by a third. If you live in an area with cold winters you can prune them in spring, having left the growth to protect the plant. You can cut them down to the old wood but not into the older brown woody bits. So just the previous year's growth.
The young ones will bush up as they become more mature.
