So far, I've taken off 44 dead flowers and it still has more to come. I took a single rhizome off the parent plant 18 months ago. It flowered last year, but not so many flowers as this year.
These are my favourites, though not to everyone's taste: Iris foetidissima. I love the quiet beauty of the flowers, and then you get the seedheads, which are gorgeous jewels.

Foetidissima grows like a week in my garden. Love the look of the flowers but not the scent. Agree with @Rubytoo that I find it difficult to place the bearded ones as I don't like the look of that corner where they are planted. And I always get stuff self seeding in between the corms which are a devil to get out - the seedlings I mean.

I'm aware of its name (both botanical and common!) but confess I've never sniffed it. It's fairly low down (slightly sunken) but right by a path and I've not noticed it. Do I have a poor sense of smell, or is it just that it flowers at the same time as the Philadelphus above it and the Cordyline on the other side of the garden, both of which have a strong scent?

Wish I could. I have two varieties ( neither of which I know the name of as bought at a charity stall) both came into flower just as I went on holiday 8 days later I'm back and all 5 flowers on each stem have come and gone. Much faster than usual. 🙄
picardae they are truley scrumps, cant share mine, dunno hwo to, but I have those mauve ones, some pale yellow/white stripe ones in a damp shady bit, and out the front sw facing almost black, this year they have been amazing, normally, the slugs get them, but have seen hardy any slugs, now, black fly, thats anoth matter!!!!

Thanks to everyone else as well, some of the bearded ones are attractive.
Iris Sibirica which a few people have shown is the one that my wife spotted last week and really liked.
This one was labelled Haut les Voiles but it definitely isn’t
