Weak delphinium stem. Help?!

I have recently bought and planted two delphiniums. One is growing well and has two flowering stems growing. The other has healthy looking leaves, but the stem is very week and leans to one side. It also hasn’t grown any flowers. Any ideas what is wrong? How can I help my delphinium?

    Give it a feed, and tie the flowering stem to a cane.

    If it were mine I would cut the weak stalk off and give the roots a chance to build up.
