Monkey puzzle tree

I have a 28 year old monkey puzzle tree about 30 foot high and the bottom branches have turned brown and are spreading up the tree! I really don’t  want it to die, what can be causing it

We have the same problem. The possible cause suggested is the dry weather we had last year. Nasty job, but we have just been removing the dead branches. It does make the tree look a lot better. Ours is a male so it has shed sticky yellow pollen all over the place too.

I think it’s quite usual for these trees to lose some lower branches.  However last year’s drought is still showing its effects and we’ve had a dry spring in many places this year

This earlier thread has some information that may help.
