New hose needed

At around two years old, my current hose is leaking. It being one of those flex hoses, sticking some sealant over the holes isn't going to work. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me flex hoses are prone to leaking...

After hearing from someone who's been in the gardening game for a while that hozelock hoses are prone to leaking, I think I'd like to steer away from that brand. Any recommendations?

In 1991 I bought an orange, no kink, Gardena hose pipe. It was a good 20 or so years before it started kinking. I also have a wall mounted hose reel rewinder by Hozelock. About 10 years old now and has decided it won't rewind any more but the hosepipe and its fittings are still good and strong with no leaks.

Yesterday I bought a cheap 25m hoseipe to wind on a manual reel and just use for watering terrace plants and pots and the darn thing kinked just coming out of its packaging and being wound onto a reel I already had.

You get what you pay for.

I'm awaiting delivery of one. Not self winding. I was impressed by their connectors and there's a few bits of kit included. So long as it doesn't kink like my old one,I'll be happy

last year there was a very long thread complaining about those hoses. Apparently they can burst quite spectacularly.

I converted last year to two of those expandable yellow ones and so far they are great. SO light and when empty they go back into their little tub.

well I've always disliked the look of the flexi hoses you are talking about... however somebody donated me an old one when I needed a hose - it was several years old - this was 2 years ago. They definetely don't kink, cost about £10 and mine still going strong. I put a gardena spray nozzle on to it recently. Beats paying £125 for a hose - my eyese nearly popped. Looks nice but so does a ferrari...

Having said all that I wouldn't get another lol but they are not too bad. Also if a leak does occur, you cannot patch it, however you can just get some scissors and cut the leak off. Then you just rethread the connector to the open end and have a brand new (If a little bit shorter) hose.

Having done some research this one seems to be the best you can buy at the moment although the gardena is probably better but also 3 times as expensive.

I've used Hozelock Super Tricoflex without any kinks or leaks for a couple of years.

It is one of those expandable ones. I only had it for two years

Much better price! Although the one I found was £100 for a 20m one.
