Exposed garden

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I'm looking for a bit of advice/ideas. As the title suggests we live in a very exposed and windy area, most ceramic pots I put out get blown over! I'm looking for suggestions and ideas of what planting/ structures may help cut down the wind? Also what plants may happily live in an exposed area? If anyone has any photos to share that would be great too,

thank you in advance

    Hi @justsmilerosie :)

Can you post some photos of your garden and give us some info about the way it faces, prevailing wind etc ... thanks.

  • Thank you for your reply, the wind comes up from the north west, this photo shows where the wind hits us, we are on the edge of the estate with open fields next to us, I hope this helps explain a bit better for you, thanks

If your photo doesn’t upload reducing the size usually does the trick 😊

Ah .... tried to zoom but it went all fuzzy 😞

    im having a think
    about your windy problem
(no real delicate way to phrase that) :flushed:

My first thought is to have a look at the website of The Old Vicarage gardens at East Ruston ... right on the windswept Norfolk coast ... they’ve created a wonderful garden by planting a windbelt and dividing the spaces ... http://www.e-ruston-oldvicaragegardens.co.uk/pages/view/564/home.htm
a much bigger space of course, but I’m sure there’s some ideas that could be adapted.

  • That's brilliant, thank you, I'll take a look now😊
