So here’s the dead bush and I’ve actually found the spikes!  So must  be the astilbe. So the dying shrub can someone id this and advise if it’s easy to get out please? 😊 it’s in front of another like it and looking to put a small tree for more wildlife- the little birds love these hedges for whatever reason 😍

If it's small, I think it might be Veronica filiformis, or slender speedwell.

You’re talking about the first pic? It’s in no way anything like a speedwell except it’s a slightly similar blue. It’s already been identified. It’s a common Dog violet ... viola riviniana.
Let me guess ... you’re using an app?  😊

The shrub with the tiny yellow leaves looks like Lonicera nitida "Baggesen's gold". It'meant to be that colour but looks as if it might have been pruned badly.  It will take hard pruning so I would take out the mostly-bare branches and let it grow back from low down.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Unfortunately yes, mares tail, been fighting it both here and allotment  :'( it’s everywhere, I’ve been picking as much out as possible, I’ve all my tools at the allotment so can only dig them out there.

To Dovefromabove: I'm talking about the top photo, which looks very like slender speedwell, and no I'm not using an app. Don't be so patronising.
