Grew a (Japanese?) quince

hi I inherited a Japanese quince aka chaemoles or something like that and i just noticed it has a fruit... so I want to try it! I am pretty sure they are edible (will wait for reply ๐Ÿ˜‚)ย When will it be ripe or is it ready now does anyone know?ย

It won't be ripe until Autumn and even then isn't edible like an apple off the tree. The fruit will be rock hard and quite astringent. You need to process them into a quince jelly or even a quince cheese to make them edible. ย You can also add them sliced into an apple pie to give extra fragrance and flavour.

Mine enjoyed last year's summer and gave me 5 pots of lovely tasting jelly. Definitely worth it, if you can get more fruit :)
