Is it a willowherb?

CopperdogCopperdog Posts: 617
hello I’ve just pulled out what I think is a willowherb again? Although usually they seem so shallow rooted and come out so easily...this definitely has a kind of spreading clump habit? Is it still a weed or have a pulled something good out? Thankyou

Some willowherbs have a thick root system. It looks like a willowherb to me.

Thanks Fidget, I shall wonder no longer! I’m pleased I haven’t pulled out something by mistake xx

Looks indeed like willowherb (and a roll of paper towel in the background).

I am about to plant out a tray of something that looks like that, Heleniums.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

@Lyn I'm wishing I had left it for a bit longer to see what it may have turned into...Last year there were Rudbeckia and Echinacea Green Twister, but don't think the leaves were the same as that type of plant...I guess. I will never know for sure.  Note to self to not be so impatient and whip things out.
