Aphids or another problem?

Hi everyone, I had a really nice Viola "Inverurie Beauty" in my garden but, I've just came back after 5 days away to find it has totally died...

It was in flower and looking good when I left.

I can see some Aphids on the plant but, could they really turn the plant to mush in such a short time?

One pic shows it before a i went away, and the others show it now, its like its rotting almost??

    Cut it right back, it will shoot out and flower again.

    Hi Lyn, that's what I did... I wasn't sure it that was the right thing to do but that's reassuring that you recommended that!

    I'll see how it goes with it...
