Purple-ish berry identification

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and wanted to learn about some berries I have found in my garden.
I have uploaded a picture below; could anyone help identify these mystery berries and clarify if they are edible or not?

Thanks,
Pav

They're from the Mahonia shrub - as far as a I know they're not edible

oops - apparently the berries are edible but do contain toxins - if you can bear the taste :)

I believe those are Mahonia berries. :)
PS: although some may be edible, I wouldn't recommend eating them:

Leave them to ripen.  They'll go much darker and stay attractive a long time and the birds will really appreciate them.
