Robin Nesting

Hey guys i see a lot of robins  flying around my garden and sitting on my fence. I would like to put some nesting sites in but not sure what kind of nesting sites robins use like boxes and where to put them to best attract them.I have 3 nesting boxes but only blue tits seem to take them.

    Thanks for the advice
  • They like to nest low down than most birds. Below 2m is recommended and the nest needs to be obscured by a climber or plant of some sort. There are some Robin esters out there designed to suit them. I've seen a Simon King one pop up a lot but never tried. There's loads more stuff online.

I built this one last year from a photo i saw online. Its mounted amongst a wisteria on the north wall of my garage. (Don't fit any box on a southerly or westerly aspect unless adequately shaded, and even then i wouldn't recommend it...)

The Robins are busy decorating as we speak. Plenty of resources online as alex says.
