slugs/grubs on lawn

Hi guys, my lawn is appearing slightly thin and after watering I noticed 3 or 4 magpies in the area who were eating things off the lawn.  When I went out to investigate, I found lots of these on the surface.  Could anyone please identify them and tell me a way to treat the lawn to get rid of them as I presume they are doing some damage to my lawn and potentially the culprits of making it look thin?

Thanks

It's a grey field slug. I wouldn't have thought that was the cause of your thin lawn.
