Replacing a sycamore tree

There are a couple of sycamore trees at the end of the garden and my neighbours garden.
We want to get them removed as they cause a lot of problems. They are huge trees though.
The good thing about them is the privacy they provide from the neighbours on the next road.
What would you replace a sycamore tree with that will
- provide privacy all year round and not just the summer months
- grow tall and not huge
- hopefully not have much overhang causing extra shade areas to form

To add, the people on the next street have attics too and the sycamore trees do provide privacy from those too in the summer so it needs to compete with that.

    What problems do they cause?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I don't think I am alone in this as on another gardening group I have seen frustrated posts in sycamore trees which explain our problem to a T.

They throw a lot of things into the garden in the summer. I don't know what it is.
The worst thing is that as soon as a little bit of wind appears, it covers us with aphids. You can imagine what happens with a stronger wind. My wife was wearing all black the other day and she looked like she was wearing green instead. Completely covers. The same goes for the plant stems and the pots.

Later on in the year it's the helicopter seedlings. Not only the back garden but the front. Behind the fence there is a walkway and several have become very established and tall.

Then the sticky residue all summer. This is in the back garden as well as all over our cars. Last year we had aphids all over the car too.

After seeing so many posts on sycamore trees causing issues just over this last week it seems I am not one of its victims too lol.

How tall do you estimate the sycamores to be now?  Once you know that you can do research on what other trees grow to that height. If you want all year cover, then it's an evergreen you need but they come with their own problems. No tree is perfect I'm afraid and even less in a garden setting.  You may just need to get used to other buildings nearby.
