Looking for a fragrant rose that will be flowering mid June?

benbacardibenbacardi Posts: 1
Hello,

It's my wife's thirtieth birthday in mid June, and I'd love to get her a pretty, fragrant rose that would ideally be flowering over her birthday. Something that can live in a nice pot on our patio. I know nothing about this kind of thing myself - does anybody have any suggestions?!

Thanks!
Ben

Most roses start flowering in June but how early depends on how warm the weather is an dhow sheltered and weel cared for the rose is in its pot.

Look at the David Austin website - https://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/shop-online which includes a list of roses happy in pots https://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/specific-situations/pots-containers-excellent

Peter Beales and Harkness are other well known rose breeders and nurseries you could try.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

There is only one surefire way of buying a perfumed rose in flower for the correct date......go to the garden centre or plant nursery a couple of days before your wife's birthday and get the nicest rose you can find. The staff will be able to give you advice on the best rose to grow in a large pot.

You could also see if there is a rose with your wire's name and I'm sure there are others with a name that would be appropriate for a birthday or something personal to you both.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I also would recommend David Austin roses and take a look at that link for ones that suit pots. You can also filter for strength of scent.
