Climbing Rose pruning and maintenance

looking for some help with my climbing roses. All the growth is at the top and I would like to know how to cut it / prune it to allow for new growth from the bottom and tips to shape it better?

It’s also making access to the gas meter door difficult so I would like to at least know when I can cut the thick shoots back below this door to allow for easier access the meter box again.

Hi Gavin, I think our resident rose expert @Marlorena might be the best person to comment on this one and she might be able to identify which one you've got. The rose pruning season is usually earlier in the year just as it starts growing again.

This YouTube video may help. It’s an old video but his explanation is extremely clear and a funny guy to boot.
