  Looks like the byzantine form - https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/gladiolus-communis-subsp-byzantinus/classid.2000002115/  which flowers earlier than the big blousey Dame Edna types and yes, the spherical one is an allium.

  Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
