I overwintered my cannas wrapped in newspaper in box in garage then put them into pots of compost about 4 weeks ago and are on sunny windowsill however there are no signs of growth at all. Are they a gonna?
Seems late I leave mine in there pots and bring them into garage after first frost ,start watering around March and put them out 2nd week in May here in the north east ,and as worked for the last 4 years about a ft tall now bought a new pink one this year and that’s about 6 inch, garage is not heated but as a large window .
We leave ours in the pot and keep it in the cold but frost free dark garage for the winter. Think it was late March/early April that we repotted it and moved it to a spot in our studio by a big east facing window and it started to produce shoots above the soil ... for the past fortnight it’s been going out during the day and in at night ... it’s going to stay out from today onwards

I start mine going in early March, indoors, and they are now about 2-3 foot tall. They will go outside in the next week. Some stay in pots, others are planted in the garden. In my experience, they need lots of water [ they will grow if submerged in a pond ] and tons of feed. I over winter all of them in pots, in a cool porch, and I keep them slightly damp, following the advice of the late, great Christo Lloyd.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I overwintered mine, still in their pots in Hostafans poly tunnel. Ive never herd of taking them out to overwinter. My daughter leaves hers in the ground, they’re all up now and spread over a huge area.
