Growing trees in pots

hi I’m looking for a tree that will grow up to 4m max that can be grown in a large pot. I want to place them on my decking next to the fence to block view into our kitchen windows from a nosey neighbour. I don’t want it to spread that much and I’m not into conifer variants. Would appreciate any advice. Some thing colourful would be great too

I was thinking of acers, but the sun might be a bit strong for them. Some people plant bamboo

At that height, I think long-term you need a container bigger than 500mm. Take a look at Ligustrum Japonicum, a tree privet. Semi evergreen and suitable for raised beds, so should do fine in a container.
