Bigonia Plugs

Good Morning, please can someone help or advise? As usual this year I have , in the last week planted out some begonia plugs into baskets. They are always successful and fantastic flowers. Though again this year  , they look at this time like they are going to die. Lower leaves dying and drooping. Leaving little leaves on some plants. I have used recommended compost from my garden centre and the plants don't appear ove or under moist. I also have them in light shade protected from the wind. I am a little frustrated astowhy they go like this? Please can anyone help?  Kind regards. I also should add that they where healthy plants when I bought them and kept them indoors and hardened them off to what I thought was best.

It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Maybe it's just the shock of transplanting them and they'll pick up in a few days.

I don’t know where you are in the country, but down here in Devon our nights have been very cold, yesterday,  very hot through the day, last night 5.5c  I would suspect they’ve got cold. I won’t put mine out for another week at least.

Thank you for both replies. I will keep a close eye on them. I am on the West coast of Cumbria. So as you say, cold likely the culprit. What sorts of temps are they happy in during the evening?

I’m hoping for around 8/10 by the end of the month. The thing they really hate is being wet, then cold, I’m sure yours will pick up when the nights are warmer.
