    Ok I am going to go with what you said then it's a nice looking plant so I'm happy thanks mate I appreciate it

    It's a marginal plant which means it wants to be at the pond edge with its feet in water and a few inches of water up its stem.   Then all you see is what goes on above the water which is why yours looks odd to you.
    Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

    Ah right I will stick him in the pond then under a bit of water thanks :)
