Help with lawn problem

Hello all, my friend's lawn developed a large ring of dying grass a few weeks ago (about 1.5m wide) exactly where she had a tree chopped down about 8 years ago (the stump is still there).  Now mushrooms have appeared in the ring.  We looked it up and found something about fungus living on the rotting wood under the grass? She doesn't mind the mushrooms but the grass is dead looking in a really wide large ring.  Should she try to kill the fungus that's possibly feeding on the rotting wood or ignore it and simply reseed the lawn? Many thanks.

Worth a try spike the ground as deep as you can all in the area of the stump and then mix up some dish detergent and water and pour it in that area ⛳️

Mushroom aren't really a problem on a general lawn. Its a bit early in the year for mushrooms normally late summer / autumn when most are seen on lawns, do you know what type of mushroom they are.  I would try and ignore them , they will go away but will return next year , I mow them off when cutting the grass.

Hi Perki, she doesn't mind the mushrooms (I also have them occasionally in my own lawn and they just go away on their own), it's the fact that there is a ring of dead/dying grass where the mushrooms are appearing.  She's worried that something in the soil is killing the grass off.  The ring is quite large and it's like a band of dead grass so it looks awful.  But without any access to a suitable fungicide in the UK we're not sure what we can do to help the grass recover long term.
