New to raspberries - dead or alive?

    Ah ok, bit of confusion between berries! Yes the pruning is different for blackcurrants, redcurrants and raspberries. I have never tried not pruning raspberries but it depends  whether summer or autumn fruiting as to how you prune them. Either way, pruning does help, as you are pruning out canes that are no longer productive so the plant can put its energies into the new growth. Mind you, they are woodland edge plants and grow in the wild and nobody goes round pruning them!
