Help! Is my peony dying?!

I bought and planted a peony a week. I added growmore slow release fertiliser and a little manure into the hole before planting. I have watered it most days and I have a very warm south facing garden. The peony has turned a red/brown colour all over and the leaves have curled.
Any ideas what’s happened and how I can save it?

Thanks.

I don’t know for sure, but I would think that it’s either had a touch of frost or it’s getting too much water.

It is definitely possible that I may have gone overboard with watering! Do you think this is  saveable?

The Growmore and/or the manure could be too strong for the roots, burning them. I don't know if it is salvageable, but I would lift it, wash the rootball and replant it, not too deeply away from the original planting hole.
