What à lovely story..must serm like à dream. Well done you still helping out. Christmas Markets with snow are always the best. No hounds here just spaniels and setter. That's when they go shooting. There are no horses and hounds in my part of Normandy..you have to go near Paris or in the Loire Valley. Then it is not didimilar to UK although thry are chasing Boar or Deer not foxes who are generally left alone. Polytunnel roof off again but gorgeous warm sunny day so at Last I can get out there. Puppy (6mths old now!)to vet this afternoon for stitches out after castration. Hope weathet better gorge you now.
We've been getting a lot of heavy mists and rain but now it has turned bright and clear and frosty of a morning so shallots still not planted and I've no idea when or if conditions will be right for them.
Christmas markets here are all snacks, booze and tat with a few bits of decent artisanal stuff which I can make for less myself in colours I like. We're planning to go to the one in Nantes on the last Friday before Xmas as there are a couple of shops I want to visit along with a raid on the Asian and Caribbean SM.
I've received my seed order for curry leaf trees, Sichuan peppers and a Ceylon gooseberry but need to research best sowing conditions and times before doing anything else. Other than that, we have some cavolo nero ready to harvest and the PSB was thinking about some flowering shoots before the frosts but not a lot else going on.
Even the cats and dogs are hibernating and sleeping indoors a lot. I hope your gang are all geting on well @biofreak

Apart from Bela the Spanish Greyhound joining the Hunt last week much yo the amusement of the huntsmen and my panic at not getting her yo come back for an hour..all well with the livestock. BOOTS the Bengal caught à mouse behind the télévision last night. So obviously catwork has moved indoors. Pushkin the Silver Tabby now relishing being towel dried. Otherwise he just covers fourniture in mud as do do wet. Splashing across lawn to polytunnel now but Broad Beans and newly rooted baby Artemesia very happy in there. Shops seem to be full of Chridtmas stuff now. Getting very Anglo American now, but at least nothing starts here until after 2dt Dec. Bit down at the moment as nearly one year passed to O/H death 23rd Dec. Did not think it would affect me as have been fine. Don't think I shall bother with décorations, judt wish I could fo something positive in the garden. Still long walks with fogs kerps me sane!!
@biofreak , hello , weather lots of heavy rain ,everywhere very wet and cold In between the rain did a bit of gardening , mainly pruning
Managed to have a couple of burn ups at allotment , hoping to go there Fridays if no rain , want to cut down the blackened dalias and mulch them , still lots of jobs to do there , still picking cabbage and leeks , noticed the garlic coming up well
I trust Bela had a good time with the Hunt and it sounds cats 🐈 are mousing well Deer can be a problem round hear so Farmers are allowed to cull them as Hunting that is done in France is not allowed
We have a Christmas tree 🎄 in a big pot which I’ve just moved to front of house and we have put lights on them , with a timer As we go to family for a week over Christmas we don’t put many decorations up but always put a few , one year didn’t both and it didn’t seem the same , hoping to do that on Sunday
A very large garden centre in Lincoln , had there Christmas decorations out in October , far to early in my opinion but when I went there last week for some Fruit Tree grease is was packed , in fact everywhere seems busier than normal
Hope you get your internet sorted , we rely on it so much these days
Happy New Year Everyone...at last I can get outside. The wind has dropped and the sun is shining. Waiting for Lunar Weather Update tomorrow. Hope none of you have been affected too badly by floods etc.
