Yellow Laurel leaves but new shoots

We planted a Laurel hedge in autumn last year, and in the last month or so have noticed yellow leaves at the bottom of most of the plants. They look generally healthy and are all growing new shoots as well though. Should I be worried?

No problem, just pick them off if they offend.
if you want your hedge to be thick and lush you need to keep picking out the tops. Or cut back the shoots, top and sides.

Even evergreen plants lose and replace their leaves ... just a few at a time rather than all at once ... that’s what is happening to your hedge.

Thanks both. I was worried it was dying! Panic over!
