Please help. Sentimental cordyline Australis. Is it possible to take a cutting?

Hi there.

When my late grandmother passed away several years ago I took the Cordyline outside of her front porch and planted it into our south facing garden. 4 years later and it is now a five stemmed tree and magnificent.

My wife and are are moving house and I am reluctant to move it and risk harming it.

My question is:

Is it possible to take a cutting in some way?

I want to grow another from the parent plant for sentimental reasons.

If the tree has branches, you can cut one of them off and it will grow. Take about a meter in length without any leaves at the base, a bit like you would for a very large succulent. It's best to leave it dry for at least a week, so the cut section calluses over. Now is about the best time. Protect it in the winter for the first year. Don't be in a rush to water. It may take a couple of months to root.
