Begonias

Can anyone tell me what has happened to my Apricot Shade Begonias.  I started with nice healthy plants.  I re-potted into larger pots and mulched.  To my horror the following day the leaves had discoloured spots on them, and the leaves gradually died, as did the begonia.  I watered well when I re-potted and wonder if I watered too much, I didn't water from the bottom initially and wonder if this is where I went wrong, although some plants are healthy, the majority are a sorry sight - any ideas?

Begonias originate in South America, including here (Brazil). They cannot be grown outdoors all year round in UK. Not hardy. They are also tuberous plants so they can be treated as Dahlias and lifted in Autumn and stored over winter. They do not need water during this period. The trick is to keep them cool and then bring them into warmth. When the first leaves appear you can start to water, but don't overdo it. Growing plants out of their climate zone is always a challenge as they are disease prone.

Over watered , the white dots on top of the leaves is where they been watered from above and the sun scorched them where the water droplets were. The ones which have turn to mush is when the begonia sat in the wet cold compsot for to long causing them to rot. Before watering again wait until they are almost dry the pot should be light to pick up, and place under the self if in GH or a  part shaded area. Pick off dead leaves before they attract botrytis, I would remove the mulch as well it will be keeping them to wet
