Canna lilli

Hi!
im looking to see if anyone can tell me if something is wrong with my canna lilli.  It appears to be emerging with the leaves all twisted and distorted.  Is it ok?  All my others appear and the leaves open straight away.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Do you have a picture?

Is it a new Canna? Some plants are affected with canna virus (in which case you would remove and discard asap).

I’m afraid that looks like a bad case of  virus infection  ... info here http://www.canna-virus.org.uk/

    I agree.
Move it away from any other Cannas and destroy it, do not compost

thank you!  I was afraid you would say that  :s  I got this from a Canna supplier at the Hampton Court show - I would have expected to have been virus free - oh well!  off the the green waste bin it goes.

Is that the right place for it???  I would’ve thought it would just add to the spread of the disease around the country ... 😦

  • My canna's looked just like that when they started sprouting  earlier this year. I left them as is and now they're about 2 foot tall with big healthy leaves

Oh you might be right I hadn’t thought about that.  How else would I dispose of it?  I don’t have anywhere in my garden to burn it.

🤔. I suppose bagging it and sending it to landfill would at least avoid the possibility of folk buying infected compost from the ‘garden composting’ set up ... anyone else got a better idea/more knowledge?
