Pineapple plant

I have a pineapple plant looks very sad. I have had it for about 6 months.

It is in a south-facing window and gets plenty of sunlight. I only water it once every 2 weeks or less, to avoid overwatering. I haven't fed it any fertiliser. The leaf tips are brown and the lower leaves are very floppy. There is also some discolouration on the leaves.

Can anyone suggest to me what the problem might be?

I don't think it's anything too serious yet. The browning of the tips is fairly common, I'm sure there is a reason like lack of nutrients but nothing too serious to worry about. The drooping of the lower leaves I would put down to the plant being rootbound. Solution: transplant into a bigger pot. Use some john innnes compost with plant food added and your plant should perk back up but I have never grown a pineapple plant before.
