Help identifying a weed

Please can anyone help to identify this weed it has grown about 2ft tall....thank you.

    I think it's a sow thistle.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Thank you Busy-Lizzie that is really helpful and I think it's definitely right as it's now starting to produce small yellow flowers, plus I didn't know that you can add it to salad's, so thank you....
