Itea Ilicifolia

Planted this gorgeous shrub spring 2018 and it did very well. So far this year it seems dormant with no sign of new growth.
Any clues?

    New one on me so I looked it up on the RHS website - https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/9420/Itea-ilicifolia/Details

    I can only suggest it may have suffered in last year's hot dry spells and in some areas it's been a pretty dry winter and spring so maybe it needs some generous watering and then a mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure to add nutrients and retain the moisture.  A feed of liquid seaweed might give it a boost and I would first clear away that leaf litter and any weeds that may be sheltering whichever pest is chewing the foliage.

    Looks like a lovely plant to have so now it's on my wishlist.  Hope yours recovers.
