New growth on Photinia Red Robin

Hi,
Does anyone know what is happening to the new growth on our Red Robin? Alot of the new growth seems to be blackening towards the tip and wilting.
We've had this tree about three weeks and was planted with John Innes no3 compost. Please see pics.
Thanks,
Richard

They are a bit of cold damage. New growth at this time of year can be damaged slightly by cold nights, and in the last 3 weeks, there has been quite a few cold nights. They will recover, and will not affect the rest of your shrub.

Keep it well watered for this first summer - a bucketful at a time once a week rather than little dribbles - and make sure you put some proper tree ties on it.  The ones you have look tight so no room to grow and also nothing to stop the trunk rubbing against the support cane.   That may lead to bark damage and thus disease or growth problems as the sap can't rise past that point of injury to feed the portion of stem and foliage above.
