  • And reading this thread, the rose garden centre at Wych Cross following the dispersal of Wyvale is now bought by Coolings who will be using its rose growing capabilities once more. So fingers crossed it will be improved further.

Ooops, I don't often come here and have just noticed your kind offer of a Miss Alice cutting. We are in Bearsted just east of Maidstone so if you are ever anywhere near us, I'd happily meet up and take some cuttings from you. Perhaps you could email me as I'm more likely to see your reply - pn31146(at)hotmail.co.uk

@Paul N as the OP @gribbit789 has never posted again you could try sending them a private message on their profile page which might reach them. Hope you find your rose.
You could try https://waddesdon.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/ to see if they have any ideas. If you haven't already.

@Paul N It may be late but I have found 'Miss Alice' in the following web shop (German) and they post it to UK.

Miss Alice® and other roses you can buy at the online shop of Rosen-Direct.de (rosen-direct.de)

@Paul N another website (Italy) has Miss Alice. I have not ordered any from these websites but seems to be genuine. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I am currently growing six cuttings from a Miss Alice rose even though they are struggling in this heat. Hopefully some will survive.
  • Hi Paul

If your cuttings are successful I would be grateful if you could send me some. I am in the same predicamas you, I can't get one anywhere, I have a granddaughter named Alice.

    Many thanks

    Hi Brendan

I did manage to get about six cuttings of 'Miss Alice' and all are dying as we speak. Spring is usually OK for cuttings although the autumn is better, and in spite of them being kept in the shade of my workshop, and in spite of looking really healthy, I don't believe any will survive in spite of misting and watering. I shall wait for the autumn before asking for some more material and trying again. Yes, our grandaughter is also an Alice.

    Regards
    Paul

  • Thanks Paul perhaps you will keep me updated

It just recently disappeared from USA site, too. Makes me think they just sold what was left in stock. There's a big chance they just didn't grow any for sale this year due to perhaps less staff of hands and only supply their bestsellers (at least so it seems on USA site).

I sent a text to American branch asking if it's ever coming back there, it may be useful to as UK branch the same. Maybe you just need to wait for it to come back in a year or so!

There's also a chance of the change of name if it was "improved" and re-introduced again in recent years.
