Poorly standard wisteria

Although my climbing wisteria has never looked more lovely, I sadly can't say the same for my 5-6 year old standard... no buds, leaves seem shrivelled, just looks generally unwell. Any ideas...?

Same time last year:-

Have you checked those ties attaching it to the cane?  They look like they may be strangling it.  Try loosening or removing them and get some proper ties which are adjustable and also protect the trunk form damage by rubbing against the support.

The other problem may be thirst during the drought last year.  As it's young it will be more susceptible to drying out so try watering generously then give it a feed of slow release pelleted chicken manure or blood fish and bone and a liquid tonic of seaweed or tomato fertiliser.   Then be patient.

As promised, I’m reporting back... she’s stopped sulking, and is back to her beautiful floriferous self! Really weird how two years ago there were flowers, and last year not a single one! Anyway, glad to say, normal service has resumed...

I am so pleased I found this as I have the same problem this year with mine. Lots of flowers last year but only one this year. I will follow your advice and keep my fingers crossed.
