Christmas tree

This christmas tree has been left in this pot for a couple of years now - i've cut a lot of dead branches back - its still very bare. However it has good growth at the top and I don't want to throw it.

If i plant it up in a area of bed in the front garden will it continue to thrive/recover?

No ... sadly this type of conifer only produces  new growth from the tips of the branches ... the bare brown bits will remain bare brown bits ☹️
