Peat free compost

...that's not extortionate. What options are there?

The only comparable option I can find to the 120 litre bags of regular MPC I get for £8 is B&Q's 3 x 50 litres for £10

    I'm afraid I too found Verve peat-free almost unusable - and I'm not that fussy! Miracle Gro, Gro-sure and New Horizon have all been good.

    Got one bag of b and q peat free to try and it looks the business. Actually seems to be even finer texture than any regular MPC.

    I've tried Sylvagrow for the first time this year and it is excellent. I've also made my own from a mixture of topsoil, coir and green waste. This requires a bit more effort but has also worked really well.

    In recent Which test reports the highest scoring peat free compost was from Waitrose. It was excellent for seed sowing and fair/good for containers. The price is reasonably low.
