Tadpoles seem to be very big this year?

They will eat meat once they have grown a bit (even before they have legs) but they don't need it - they'll happily grow into froglets on lettuce alone, and supposedly once they start growing front legs they don't need to eat at all since they reabsorb their tails.

I have lots of toad tadpoles in the pond, they are getting quite big and no legs yet. Oh yes and they love the fish flakes.
  • I didn't feed mine either - they chewed on the algae and then started to hoover up small insects that had fallen into the pond. Well, it wasn't a pond really, more like a round granite bowl that used to be a water feature but then the pump broke! It's funny how they keep it all so clean though - the water was really lovely and clear when they inhibited it, but as soon as they left, it became cloudy and murky. Love tadpoles and can't wait to have a wildlife pond again to encourage the frogs back.
