Hi, new to the gardening world. I watch monty religiously but ALWAYS have questions I can’t get answered. Please can anyone tell me what this is? We were given it at BBC country file last August & I don’t have a clue what it is & if I should be worried about it ‘taking over’.
It looks very like stinging nettle, only minus the stinging hairs. I'd guess it's one the Lamium genus, commonly known as deadnettles. Has it flowered? A pic of the flowers would enable a closer ID.

Thanks for the reply! It’s soft to touch & no flowers (yet) it’s grown pretty rapid, i have searched Google but no further forward. I will search dead nettles for info. It smells lovely, but I do not want it to be in my border if it’s invasive. Cheers, Laura
That’s actually very pretty, it smells lovely & at the moment isn’t causing any harm, but I don’t want to leave it if it’s going to take over the whole planter. What is yours like next to other plants ?
Loads of fun to come then. If it is white dead nettle you may want to keep it but also keep an eye to stop it from spreading further than you'd like. It also indicates a good, fertile soil and will add nutrients to your compost heap so win-win either way.
