Compost

Hi Everyone.

Purchased a large trough and planter.  Could you advice me on the correct  compost. Thinking of mixing perennials and bedding plants in them for Summer and also over Autumn to Winter.
Any help will be great.
Thanks

As you want some perennials I would go JI No3 mixed with general purpose compost 75 /25  unless you going acid then JI No3 with ericaceous compost 50/50 a couple of inches of good drainage at the bottom gravel, broken pots. polystyrene then a layer weed membrane or fleece before adding the soil (stops the soil filtering into the drainage medium.

If the plants are staying for a long period consider feeding and changing the top couple of inches of soil every spring.
