Marigold problems...

Hmm my Marigold seedlings are developing these weird colours on the seed leaves, can’t tell if it’s black or a really dark purple! I have various types of marigolds and it’s on a few of the trays, they are growing in Levington professional seed compost mixed with perlite and topped with vermiculite, I also water from below, they are never soaking wet, also in a heated greenhouse.

Its low nutrient seed compost, could it be deficiency? roots are well formed and white so I don’t understand what’s going on, no disease on stems/discolourations, yet.

Any input would be appreciated! they do need potted on so I don’t know if that’s the reason but I also dont want to waste my time repotting if they are diseased. It’s very disheartening 😞

Pot them on into a higher nutrient mix. They look like they have been too cold, maybe a frost one night?

    The seed leaves are dying ... that’s what’s supposed to happen ... I can’t see a problem there 😊

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

I doubt it’s cold as the heater in my greenhouse is a consistent 20 degrees throughout the night. Oddly the ones with the discolouring seem to be touching one another, so it’s making me think it’s some sort of disease 😬

Does that happen with all seed leaves? I’ve never noticed it before, it’s a worrying colour!

I've noticed it quite often on marigolds, nothing to worry about and like dove said they will lose the seedling leaves anyway

I’ll pot them all on and see what happens, it’s just weird how there are trays of marigold with bigger plants and the seed leaves are still all green for now, I think that’s why I thought something was wrong.
