Swallows.

Joyfully we are now into the swallow nesting season, and thankfully we have some flying in and out of our barns, skilling, and sheds. Sadly though, there are reports of declining numbers. So totally upsetting to hear from the good and caring Cambridgeshire farmer Robin Page that the Egyptians are catching them in nets. Oh, if only we had the power to prevent this appalling practice.

I'll worry more when the source isn't the Daily Mail. Frankly we need to get our own house in order before we start casting aspersions elsewhere. So many barns are being converted now and there's never a requirement to compensate the nesting habitat for swallows. And you still see people destroying house martin nests on their houses.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
