Just watched the programme and have a question. 
After seeing the raised veg bed with slabs in to heat the soil, do you think he removes the slabs after germination to use the soil for other things later in the season or not?

    I think they are left there permanently during the season @purplerallim. As one crop goes over, he reuses that section, if l recall correctly.

    They do leave them there, it’s a bit of a waste of growing space, ok early in the year if they do warm up, not something I would do.

    That's what I thought @Lyn , they take up half the bed. Also I would have thought by the time it was warm enough to warm the slabs , the ground would be warm enough too.

    I love Beechgrove, but was also puzzled by the slabs in the soil. I felt it was wasted planting space - but perhaps I'm missing something.

    George has done this before a couple of years ago, I think that the team are running out of ideas this weeks show was very stodgy.
