Can anyone help with my acers leaves turning black, not brown, and shrivelled.

  I hope some Acer growers will be able to offer more opinions. There has been a fair few posts recently with very similar issues. I suspect your fine leaf tree has suffered from leaves maturing quickly over a warm spell in mid-late February, followed by very windy and cold weather, the leaves have been damaged/scorched. Hopefully, new leaves will form and they will be un-affected.
  
  If you are growing in a pot, try to keep it somewhere more sheltered away from harsh sunlight. Keep up with the watering.

  Thank you, yes the early warm spell I didn't consider that.  they are out of harsh sun and strong winds.
