Hemerocalis division

I've divided up and replanted a hemerocalis. They look awful messy!
Can I cut the leaves back?
In London. Keen but lazy.

    yes. I find them quite hard to kill

    Thanks @raisingirl. I'm not absolutely certain that I WANT them to survive, but I'll give them a chance to impress😉
