Been a funny year so far In Mid Cornwall. No big frosts but Daffy`s were very late.Camelia came out early Jan.My avocado survived despite being left outside alone.Bit scabby however! I have 120 onions in Red and White and most are 2feet high.Spuds being scraped out selectively (second earlies Maris pride) The first earlies are Way behind for some reason despite being planted 2 weeks before the others.Spinach doing well ..so far! Strawberries not satisfied with growing til late autumn are already forming up nicely. Here`s to a good summer!

Well the spuds are tasty anyway.I`m sure people grow for different reasons.Mine is for flavour and/ or economic reasons. If the local Aldi sells it tasty and cheap ,Why grow it?Space is at a premium. This year I`m adding Celeriac and some broccoli.I need spinach and lots of it for curries, can be expensive.Rhubarb we have loads of and that seems dear for what you get.Strong onions store well, plenty of spuds, and always loads of runner beans ,which again can be expensive?? I never figured out why. They are so easy to grow and take up a small footprint for commercial growers.Trying a few iceberg lettuce although the slugs love em..
I`m determined to try Wasabi in the shady parts of the garden.Any advice re them would be gratefully received.
