I am not a gardener but have moved house and have inherited two trees that I want to keep and look after. Can someone tell me what kind they are and when they get cut etc. Thank you

If the photos won’t appear try reducing the size ...that usually works

Some form of Chamaecyparis lawsoniana maybe? Prune lightly in early summer if you feel it needs shaping or there's any dead (brown) bits to be removed. Remember you can always cut more later, you can't put it back!

This may help - just be careful not to cut too far into the old wood.
